The practice of pranayama helps us learn variations we might choose in regulating our breath patterns, bringing subtlety and thoughtfulness to our breath, to ultimately find freedom in our body, mind and life. As we come to realize that how we breathe is how we live, we also see that our breath occupies a place of utmost importance amongst vital function, sensory experience, and quality of mind. Beyond being the vehicle for the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide so necessary for our survival, our breath is the source of motion which reverberates throughout our entire body, influencing the movement and function within every system. Breathing possesses the unique ability to submit to unconscious, automatic regulation, as well as come under our conscious control. By choosing to focus our attention upon our breath, we may begin to notice even subtler sensations within our body, a practice which helps cultivate quiet in our minds, and effects which resound at a cellular level. Through our breath’s intimate, reciprocal relationship with our nervous system, choosing a slow breath can help us find a slower heart rate, balanced hormones, improved immunity and digestion, and so much more.

Join Erin Jacob ERYT 500, and Jen Kinsey RMT & ERYT200 for this in depth exploration of the body’s most intricate operations. Erin founded Centered Within Yoga in 2008 has been teaching yoga therapeutically for over 10 years, working with students of all levels to help them heal from injuries, illnesses and pain. Her teaching philosophy is heavily based in the anatomy of breathing, the biomechanics of the body, and creating neurological balance and harmony. Jen has been practicing massage therapy since 2004, and completed yoga teacher training with Erin Jacob in 2015 . She is a graduate of the 3000 hour massage therapy program at WCCMT in New Westminster, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Health Science from TRU. Jen's post-graduate eduction has focused on craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, visceral manipulation, and yoga.
Erin & Jen have been training and studying together for many years, sharing their passion and knowledge as they worked together to create a new program of pranayama designed to help students of all levels improve their respiratory process and enhance the quality of their personal wellness and life!
