Centered Within Yoga invites you to join Professor Robert Nicholls, PhD. for a lecture-format workshop exploring "Yoga and Mind."
Saturday, November 30th - 1:00-3:00pm
Yoga includes meditative practice, but meditation supposes that the nature of mind is understood. Dr. Nicholls' talk will focus on philosophical approaches to the understanding of mind, including traditional Eastern conceptions, as well issues that derive from contemporary controversies such as the relation between consciousness and neurophysiology, the place of human freedom and the meaning of self-identity.
This accessible workshop is open to anyone interested in deepening their understanding and enriching their yoga practice beyond asana and pranayama.
Since 1993, Bob Nicholls has been Professor of Philosophy at Douglas College. He has also taught at the University of Alberta and Wilfrid Laurier University. Courses include Eastern Philosophy (Vedanta and Buddhism), Existentialism, Philosophy of Mind, as well as many others. He is the principal director of the Institute for Continental Philosophy (www.douglascollege.ca/philosophyinstitute) and a practising Existential Psychotherapist.
