Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC) is an empirically supported 8-week course
designed to cultivate the skill of self-compassion. Based on the groundbreaking
research of Kristin Neff and the clinical expertise of Christopher Germer, MSC teaches
core principles and practices that enable participants to respond to difficult moments in
their lives with kindness, care, and understanding.
This course will teach you the three main components of self-compassion: self-kindness, a sense of common humanity, and balanced mindful awareness. It will aim at helping you to build an understanding of mindfulness in daily living and with emotions, will enhance normalization that you are not alone in their struggles, and you will learn ways to offer yourself self-compassion and self-kindness during challenging times through short talks, group discussion meditation & reflection exercises.
Topics to be covered:
- Understand and practice self-compassion in daily life
- How to motivate yourself with kindness versus criticism
- How to handle difficult emotions with greater ease
- Transform challenging relationships
- Manage caregiver fatigue
- Practice the art of gratitude, savoring, and self-appreciation
This course is suited to anyone who wants to cultivate greater self-compassion to improve emotional strength and resiliency, learn to forgive the self when needed and reduce self-criticism, relate wholeheartedly to others, and be more authentic ourselves. No previous experience with mindfulness or meditation is required. Rapidly expanding research demonstrates that self-compassion is strongly associated with improved emotional wellbeing, less anxiety, depression, and stress, improves the maintenance of healthy habits such as diet and exercise, and satisfying personal relationships.
A portion of the earnings from this course will go directly to Centered Within Yoga Studio to continue to support this wonderful studio to continue all the work they do to support the community to have better mental and physical health!
