Toe Spacers for Happy Feet!

In this morning's foot fixer class we discuss the importance of toe spreading and stretching the toes open. Not only does it improve circulation and mobility for the feet, but it also dramatically enhances the proprioceptive capacity of your entire nervous system! Proprioception is the body's "sixth sense" that provides a subconscious perception of your body's position and movement in space. This ability allows for coordinated movement, balance, and maintaining posture, and it's crucial for tasks ranging from walking to writing, enabling us to interact with the environment and control the force or speed of our actions without needing to look. The spread of our toes are so much more important than most people realize, and yet most people are unable to spread their toes at all! This comes from a lifetime of shoe wearing paired with a lack of awareness, and for many of us, with the added complication of past or current injuries adding complications to the already compressed nature of our feet.


In class today, along with a great routine for foot rehabilitation, we discussed the many great toe spreading props that you can wear and stretch your amazing feet while watching TV, answering emails, or even when you're sleeping!
