It protects your heart and lungs while also allowing for the necessary movement and expansion for breathing. An aligned and healthy ribcage is absolutely crucial for proper spinal and shoulder alignment, and its misalignment or imbalance can lead to breathing difficulties, poor posture, and pain in your neck, shoulders, chest, and upper back
